The World of Envelopes: A Guide-5*Enclosures – Each envelope size determines the size of the enclosed items. The size of the letter, invite, etc. must be smaller than that of the total envelope size in order to ensure that it will fit. Ideally, there should be between .125 (1/8 inch) and .25 (1/4 inch) of wiggle room so that the inside pieces don’t have too much movement but are still easily pulled from the open envelope.

Types of Flaps

Pointed Flap (Baronial)
A triangular flap with crisp points that creates a classic feel, appropriate for any invitation.

Types of Paper

Envelopes also come in a large variety of paper types and finishes. Here are some that we carry at AlphaGraphics 5280:

Classic Crest®

Luxury paper providing a uniform surface. This finish has an incredible print performance that stands the test of time.

Classic Linen®

Textured to mimic linen fabric. These envelopes have a consistent finish on each side and deliver a high quality elegance.

Classic Laid®

Laid paper has a ribbed texture that is created during the manufacturing process. With a original and crisp feel, it’s reminiscent of handmade paper from the pre-mechanical European papermaking period. Classic Laid® papers set the standard for premium watermarked papers.

Cougar®

Premium paper known for its rich and velvety feel. Useful for printing vibrant colors, sharp images and has consistent press performance.

Pacesetter®

Pacesetter Coated is an FSC® Certified paper. The pulp is derived from areas promoting responsible forestry. The envelopes blue-white shade and brightness level provide color intensity with detailed contrast.
