Did you know over 7 million people in the U.S. require food assistance in any given week? For local AlphaGraphics business center owners in the community and across the nation, this is more than just a statistic; it is a call to action. That’s why last month, AlphaGraphics, the print, graphics and marketing services provider, decided to leverage the strength of their network to make a difference, by launching the “Third Annual AlphaGraphics Fights Hunger” campaign.
During the month of July, AlphaGraphics business centers throughout the US set out to make an impact in the fight against hunger. At AlphaGraphics Lisle team members joined up with local companies and customers to collect food for the Dupage AME Church and the West Suburban Community Pantry. AlphaGraphics Lisle set up collection sites in their center and in local businesses. “We were able to collect 3500 pounds of food and other necessities, and enlist local business support from 12 area companies, including Bernina USA, EconoTemp, Eichrom, Contemporary Controls, Amkus, Aspect, IMG, Oak, American Intercontinental, CVP, Lisle Chamber, and The Nook.” said Lynn McKenzie owner of AlphaGraphics in Lisle, located at 1997 Ohio Street Unit B Lisle IL 60532. “We were surprised at the number of businesses who jumped to participate. The positive response and number of donations we received during the food drive campaign was just tremendous!”
As a result of the Fights Hunger campaign, local food pantries across the country are re-stocking their shelves with much-needed supplies and seeing increased community awareness. “This just goes to show that local businesses can and should make a difference in the neighborhoods they live and work in, and that all it takes is awareness and enthusiastic action to change the statistics,” McKenzie concluded.
