3 Ways Restaurants Can Communicate They’re Still OPEN during Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spreads, there is more concern for our local restaurants. As everyone is quarantined in their homes, it’s important for restaurants to think outside of the box to communicate with their customers. We are sharing 3 ways to communicate with your customers that you are still OPEN during COVID-19.

Post on Social Media Regularly

Where is everyone spending most of their time? Besides Netflix and Hulu, everyone is on social media! Restaurants need to be posting regularly on social media to communicate with their customers. Here are some content ideas for your next posts: ways to order takeout, special discounts, delivery options (curbside pickup, free delivery, GrubHub, Postmates, DoorDash), hours of operation, and shoutouts to your amazing staff. Also, be strategic about the times you post. For lunch, start posting around 10:30AM or 11:00AM to get people thinking about what they are planning for lunch.

Show a Banner at your Storefront

Custom restaurant signage featuring grab N go, curbside pickup, and home delivery.

As people are walking to get some fresh air or driving to get groceries, showcase a banner at your storefront that communicates clearly – “OPEN FOR TAKEOUT.” We can customize your banner to the services you are offering: takeout, curbside pickup, in-house delivery, family-style meals, and more! Our in-house graphic designer can also help create your banner.

For our local restaurants, we are offering a 20% discount for restaurant banners and takeout menus. Make sure to add a takeout menu in every to-go order so that your customers will keep calling back for more orders. Banner and takeout menu packages are as low as $150.00 (this includes the 20% discount), plus tax.

Look for Opportunities to Promote your Offerings

There’s a strong push to support our local businesses and they are being posted every day. Here are a few that we have found in North County San Diego and hope you can take advantage of them.

San Diego Magazine created a ‘Restaurant To Go Form,’ where restaurants can submit information regarding takeout and delivery services, gift cards, or merchandise.

Mainstreet Oceanside created  ‘A guide to pickup and delivery services from our local restaurants’ on their website. The list was compiled based on social media and phone calls as stated on the website. To have your Oceanside restaurant added to this list, email kristin@mainstreetoceanside.com.

PACIFIC also has a list of restaurants that are offering curbside pickup or delivery. Contact Sara at sara@pacificsandiego.com to be added to the list.

The Carlsbad Village Association created a list of restaurants in the Village that are open and providing curbside pickup on their website. Restaurants can contact Chris at chris@carlsbad-village.com.

KSON Radio is compiling a list of restaurants that are open for takeout. Restaurants can add their info by commenting on a social media post on their Facebook.

Oceanside Chamber of Commerce is updating a list of our Oceanside restaurant members that are open and offering takeout services. The Chamber has also created a list of other Oceanside business members that are open and offering discounts. Members can contact Hana Gilbert, Communications and Outreach Coordinator at the Oceanside Chamber, be to added or promoted.

Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is actively sharing restaurants that are open and other local offerings on their social media. Make sure to hashtag #Carlsbadstrong for them to find you.
