5 Ways to Promote Your Business on Facebook

Marketing your Raleigh businesses on Facebook provides you with the opportunity to reach a wider audience than almost any other online platform.

In addition to driving new business, Facebook can also help with brand awareness—if done right.  If you haven’t created a profile for your business on Facebook, we want to share with you a few tips on how you can get started. Keep in mind that your ideal clients and customers want to see the value. This means that you should limit the self-promotion and instead seek to engage people. You’ll find that they’ll not only like your business but want to share it with their family and friends.

Create a Business Page

The first place to start is to create a Facebook business page. You can’t use your personal page—well, you could, but it wouldn’t look very professional. A page looks a lot like a personal page; it’s just for businesses and organizations. For someone to see your posts, they must first “like” your business page.  When you’re initially setting it up, you’ll find that there are a lot of options. Be sure to fill in everything completely, from your operating hours to your website and products. Adding a profile and cover photo will help ensure that your page looks professional and updated.

Engage Followers

When it comes to running your page, view it as a friendly café where you can interact with clients, customers, and potential buyers. This will help establish trust as people tend to prefer to buy from companies they can relate to. When posting content, be sure to make it engaging. Asking people their thoughts or opinions on a particular subject matter is a great way to kick-start a discussion. Just be sure to steer clear from such hot-button topics as politics, religion, or any subject matter that might cause people to get into an argument—that is, unless you are a political or religious organization.

Friends of Friends

Peer recommendations are a powerfully effective way of marketing your product. You can take advantage of this through the friends of those who like your page. When someone engages with your business profile, their friends will see the activity in their newsfeed and become exposed to your brand. A great way to take advantage of this is to create a poll or ask questions that your followers are interested in answering. As they interact with your page, their friends will see what they said and might like your page to participate as well.

Promote Your Business Page

You’ll most likely need to market your new Facebook Business page if you want to see organic growth. People are initially unaware that it even exists. Once you build up some momentum, you’ll find that it will start to grow organically as people begin to like and share your page.  The best way to do this is to have it printed on your business cards and other printed marketing materials. You can also add the URL to the Contact Us page on your website and even in your email signature. QR Codes are another great way of giving people a quick and easy way to visit your Facebook page.

Facebook Ads

Facebook Ads are the quickest way to get traffic to your website. They look just like a regular post but can quickly reach a large number of people in a short period. Facebook offers advertisers very powerful tools that can help them drill down and target people by their likes, demographics, and preferences. The only potential downside to Facebook Ads is that it can quickly eat into your marketing budget. Unless you’re planning on hiring a professional social media marketing company, it’s best to start small and slow. Try setting a budget of $20 or $40 per day until you get the hang of things.
