Mobile Search Marketing: App Discovery (Part 2)

App discovery could become one of the largest areas to focus on for mobile search engine optimization. This is a new (fairly new) feature that Google has incorporated into their SERPs.   To take the plunge into mobile app search discovery you’ll need to first create and submit and XML sitemap to Google Websmaster Tools (this is done the same way you’d submit and XML sitemap for your website). Note that if you do create an app for your business, hiring an SEO expert to work with you will be well worth your time.  An SEO person should be involved in the process to ensure content is being created properly (to help your app show up in search) and to ensure that the XML map is updated as the app is updated. Apps, by nature, are mobile, so optimizing your app for mobile search fits in well with what a user’s mobile search intent is. With close to 1,000,000 apps in iTunes and Google Play, it can be difficult to get discovered.  Launching an SEO campaign to help position your app to appear in mobile search could be one of the better investments you make in 2014.  The holistic approach of SEO is ever evolving and the better you integrate your marketing campaign (from Website development, Design, Social Media, Video, App integration and offline print) the better chances you’ll have to ensure your business will get found.
